About Us
Caprice NZ is part of a family-owned Australasian business established in Australia in 1959 and New Zealand in 1978. What began here with lace curtains sold from the back of a car has grown through practical product knowledge, trusted retail relationships and a close understanding of how New Zealanders live.
Today, we create, develop and supply bedding, bath, fragrance, window furnishings and home collections across Caprice-owned and licensed brands, bringing together local insight, international partnerships and products made for real homes.
It began in the back of a car
In 1978, Bradley Reid began selling lace curtains around New Zealand from the back of his car. At home, his wife helped sew samples and their daughter Sophie grew up spending time in the warehouse. From the beginning, Caprice was shaped by family, resourcefulness and a willingness to listen.
Those early conversations with retailers and customers taught us something that still guides the business today: good products start with understanding real homes and the people who live in them.

From curtains to the whole home
As New Zealand homes changed, Caprice grew with them. Curtains and soft furnishings expanded into bedding, pillows and duvet inners, towels and bath accessories, kitchen and napery, home fragrance, rugs, furniture, fabrics and licensed collections.
That growth has been built on long-standing relationships. Some members of the Caprice team have been with the business for close to 40 years, while many retail partnerships have developed over decades.
The people behind every product
Every range is supported by people with specialist knowledge. Our New Zealand team works across design, product development, quality assurance and compliance, production, sales and customer relationships, with support from our China office overseeing manufacturing.
We also work closely with retailers and international brand partners. Ideas move between local homes, shop floors, design teams and factories before a product reaches the shelf.
Local insight, trusted brands
Caprice brings together its own collections and trusted names including Royal Doulton, Royal Albert, Twill & Co and June & Jupiter. Each brand has its own character, but the same practical approach sits behind them: well-considered design, dependable quality and products that earn their place in everyday life.
For Royal Doulton, that means bringing British design heritage, established in 1815, together with Caprice’s understanding of New Zealand homes. The relationship has grown over roughly two decades and continues to be shaped locally for the way people live here.
